What is
Metrica Investimenti

Metrica is an investment company aiming to facilitate the economic, cultural and organisational growth of start-ups and small or medium-size companies, which operate in specific areas of the economy. Supported investments must meet two basic criteria: sustainability and innovation.

Sectors of intervention:

  • Healthcare and bodycare
  • Media and publishing
  • Credit, finance, insurance
  • Energy
  • Impact investing

Metrica invests in “active” minority shareholdings. An “active” participation in the management of the enterprise is thus always envisaged and agreed, both through the involvement of Metrica’s representatives in the management itself and, alternatively, through the presence of company representatives on the Board of Directors and, in any case, through the activation of the suited forms of information flow.

In the first part of 2017, a preliminary agreement for the transfer of rights concerning the first field developed by Esco Pacific, Ross River, was signed, and resulted in a significant capital gain.

At the end of 2017, a second agreement for the transfer of a second field was signed, but it was not completed following the sale of the entire investment in the first half of 2018.

In 2018, as in the previous year, the scope of the investments was further expanded, thanks to the gains realised with the sales, with the introduction of three new initiatives:

  • Limes, a company operating in the renewable energy sector and, more specifically, in the challenge of producing “parity grid” energy, that is energy without contributions of any sort.
  • Tech Enghines, a consulting firm operating in Fintech, with specific expertise in the insurance sector: through the InsureEngines brand, it has developed an AI engine unique for the insurance industry.
  • Dipros, a company operating in the area of Natural Cosmetics, with the well-known Planter’s trademark (www.planters.it).

At the end of December 2018 another new investment has been executed: Dipros, a company operating in natural creams and products in natural cosmetics, under the well-known trademark “Planter’s”.

During 2018, Luciano Balbo left the company’s Board of Directors to avoid a conflict of interests between Metrica and Oltre2 fund, led by Balbo himself. Oltre2 fund is a large investor in the Limes operation and therefore Lucianio Balbo sold its participation in Metrica. Four new shareholders have joined the company capital : Michele Novelli, who has twenty years of experience in Venture Capital, Stefano Miari, with a long career in Investment Banking, Roberto Moro Visconti, already present in the Company’s Board of Directors and Marianna Manfrino, who already provides a professional collaboration to Metrica.

Finally in 2019 one of the first important investments, Società e Salute ( “Centro Medico Santagostino” ), entered in a negotiation with some possible partners which might acquire a significant stake in the company.

Metrica has also opened an operating office in Via della Posta 10 (Piazza Affari) shared with KT & Partners.
